What's On at the County Show - The run down

There's an action-packed day in store for those attending Shropshire County Show this year, with plenty to keep all the family occupied in the main arena, the bandstand and the kids zone.

Of course, animals are a focus at the show - which started in the late 19th century as a way to celebrate and promote agriculture - and so in the main arena we have everything from the birds of prey display (11am and 1.15pm) to the horse classes (8am to 11am) and the parade of hounds (11.30am).

Fast and furious Pony Club games take place at 12.30pm and 2.15pm and there will be a Vintage Parade at 3pm featuring classic tractors and machinery and the Grand Parade at 3.30pm with livestock and horse champions.

If that wasn’t enough, there are two performances from the Wirral Pipe Band (9.45am and 1.45pm), Big Pete and the Grim Reaper doing battle in the Monster Truck shows at 11.45am and 4.45pm and the Young Farmers Floats at 4.15pm.

The music at the bandstand is provided by the Taiko Drummers, Wirral Pipe Band, Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir and Shrewsbury Ukulele Massive.

In the kids zone, the theme for 2018 is music so children will be able to have a go at drumming and take part in workshops from Shropshire Music Service.

Entertainment is on offer from Simon Airey, the Animal Man, Juggling Jim and Magic Kev as well as extreme mountain bike displays, the hay bale maze, Giant Octopus soft play, go karting and canoeing and archery for older children.

The popular games van will be back and the Shropshire Young Farmers have a tent of activities too.

All of this is bound to keep you busy all day, and of course a big thanks to all of the sponsors for making sure the show is a huge success again this year.

Tickets for the event on Saturday, May 26th, are available here
