What to expect from the event
The Shropshire County Agricultural Show was created in the late nineteenth century when it was launched as part of the co-operative venture - The Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society.
Since 1875 agriculture has seen massive changes in farming techniques, engine powered machinery and technology, but despite this the Greenhous West Mid Showground has always kept abreast of every new trend and continues to showcase the latest initiatives.
The show has been held for an impressive century and a quarter and throughout this span of time farmers, their families and their employees, and in the recent years a wider range of people, have come together to enjoy themselves in the merry month of May.

It was in the early years that the show became more than just an enjoyable day out for many farmers. Not only did they come with their families to enjoy themselves and find out about the latest improvements in farm techniques - they also came to meet the various suppliers of agricultural needs and to settle their dues for what they had bought in the previous year.
The showground has been vastly improved over the years by the introduction of permanent roadways and ever improving facilities for members and the general public for the 21st century.
Now the show caters for a wider audience than ever before. However, the society never loses sight of its main goal - highlighting and promoting the vital role that our own agricultural industry plays in the economy, despite the ever rising tide of produce pouring in from all over the world.
The show is now a successful and popular family event that attracts thousands of people year on year. If you are a regular visitor we are sure you will return, but if you have never experienced the agricultural show we can assure you that you will be impressed!
Livestock and Tractors
As an agricultural show at heart you cannot walk very far without coming across some animals or a tractor - and you are very welcome to look closer and find out more about our livestock and the vehicles on display.
Main Arena
We have entertainment running throughout the day in our main arena and it is often the place where people rest their legs or enjoy a snack seated on the bank - it's sometimes noisy, but that's all part of the fun!
Stalls
We have hundreds of producers selling their wares for you at the show - food, drink, clothing, art and so much more, make sure you leave some time to have a wander around the shopping areas.
Bands
Our stage is what fills the air with the sound of music during county show day, and we always have lots on offer, from choirs to Ukulele Bands!
Kids Zone
Our show is built for families and children have a special zone where they can spend time enjoying the activities - many of which are free - while you relax on a bench (hopefully in the sunshine!)
